Rhinebeck or bust

By krose | October 17, 2009

Hey knittahs!!! We are blogging from Rhinebeck, NY, the lobby of the Quality Inn where we’ve started an impromptu Stitch and Bitch with a lovely group of gals from Upstate (Way the hell upstate) NY. Helene decided if you start a stitch and bitch the knitters will come, so Julz, Helene, and I set up shop in the comfy chairs and it worked! We ran into two groups – one from CT, who we’ll be sure to meet up with later, and our new friends wheatfran, jmissy, ramram0003. We also chatted with a lovely woman from Wool from Wales who has come to judge the sheep. She refused our offer of wine (yes, that’s right, we are enjoying our large bottle of wine in the lobby) because she was a bit “gobby” and made us miss Dee.

How did we make it to our lovely whereabouts? Helene, Julz, and I hopped in the Audi and jumped on the road. The foliage was amazing, Western MA is definitely a different part of the world. We followed the GPS off the pike and through the backroads. Once it started to get dark, we worried that the GPS was trying to take us somewhere dangerous. Julz suggested that maybe we were destined to find a mass murderer instead of Rhinebeck.

Then we found our way to Route 66! And yes, we all got our kicks. Or at least called our spouses (or our mothers in my case) to proclaim our excitement.

We miss our fallen comrades Megan, to a stomach bug, Cheryl, to Hawaii (no sympathy), and Cranky, who is still somewhere on I-84, because she decided not to take the Stephen King backroads and opted instead for the accident-ridden highway.

Now we’re off to bed… but we will blog again tomorrow!
