Bitch slapped by the rain and a little snow!

By krose | October 18, 2009

We are in the Audi, snuggly and surrounded by our new stashes driving down the deliverance back roads that freaked us out on our way in, though now they are gorgeous. When we woke up this morning we were excited because there was no rain or snow on the ground. Julz and Cranky were laughing over surviving their night in the big bed, glad that no one brought a black light. Cranky’s still engaged, but maybe not to Chuck anymore – Helene and I heard an awful lot of giggling from the princess bed last night. Helene’s organizational skills got us out of the hotel with all of our belongings (and she even still had Julz’s ticket to the fair in her plastic protector!). Julz worked her magic to get us 10% off the room rate, so we had more money for yarn. The weather started to turn a little gross so we decided to run into the fair for one last fix and then head home. Julz had to use some magic again on the way into the fair to get us a closer parking spot. We grabbed some lovely gourmet coffees, demonstrating the kindness that we can show to people who are wonderful enough to feed us, and some delicious cider donuts. Then we walked through the barns one last time kissed llamas and made impulse purchases. I bought a mug with darling sheep on it, some lovely wool from Brooks farm that I spent too much money on, but it’s gorgeous and soft, and more buttons for my knitting bag. Helene bought some socks that rock that made her laugh and a knitphomaniac button, and Julz found some used spindles that were cheap to support her new spinning obsession, a mug, cheese, and some buttons of her own.

Overall the trip has been marvelous and quite the experience. We spent the trip telling people how awesome our group is and trying to get people to stop by when they inevitably visit the lovely taunton area – Helene’s business cards were an awesome idea. We’ve already started to plan where our next knitting retreat will be too. It’s gotta be a good sign that we’ve spent the whole weekend together and still remained good friends.

Pictures to come soon!
